Samba group Outra Vez from the Nijmegen region will attend the Coburg Samba Festival in Germany. During the return journey, in the conversations in the car, they decide that Nijmegen also deserves such a festival.

The municipality of Nijmegen asks residents to submit ideas for activities in the autumn of 2005, to celebrate the 2000th anniversary of Nijmegen. A few members of samba group Outra Vez submit the idea to organize a samba festival. The plan is approved, so we get to work.
